(To be fair, I only made a couple of predictions.)
I went into The Game Awards expecting a Crash Bandicoot announcement and hoping that this would be the year we’d finally get an update on Bayonetta 3.
Neither of those things happened.
On the other hand, we did get a new Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer, a new trailer for No More Heroes III, and the announcement of Bravely Default II, confusing all of us who thought Bravely Second was considered 2.
Microsoft also announced that the Xbox One’s successor will be called Xbox Series X, which certainly won’t lead to any confusion with the Xbox One X, so I still think these companies are competing for the most confusing name.
An action game called Naraka was also announced, and I was interested in it until I learned it’s apparently a multiplayer game. But by far the most exciting announcement for me was the revelation that The Wolf Among Us 2 has been revived, as we’d hoped.
I loved The Wolf Among Us, so I really hope its sequel is good.
Those were the highlights of The Game Awards for me, although The Wolf Among Us 2 wasn’t quite enough to make up for my disappointment over the lack of Bayonetta 3.
What did you think of The Game Awards 2019? Is a Crash announcement still coming? Will Bayonetta 3 appear in the next Nintendo Direct? Share your thoughts in the comments!
You stated on social media that you felt “happy” from watching The Game Awards 2019.
That’s quite amazing that you came away with a positive experience after 3+ hours of awful content.
I said I was happy about The Wolf Among Us 2. As I mentioned when I named The Wolf Among Us 2 my third most-anticipated game of 2018, my reaction to every Telltale announcement after I finished The Wolf Among Us was “Why aren’t they announcing The Wolf Among Us 2?”
So that announcement was a high point for me.
I also missed part of it live and skipped through about an hour’s worth of stuff I didn’t care about, so that might also have contributed. 😉
There is totally an inverse relationship between “amount of time watching The Game Awards” and “enjoyment of The Game Awards.” (The Y-Intercept happens to be at “0”.)
So it’s pretty low standards to have a high point.
In any case, my first and only reaction to that was, “I thought they went out of business.” But you did explain they’re “sort of” back: https://www.samanthalienhard.com/2019/08/telltale-games-is-coming-back-sort-of.html
And in that article you also said,
“Personally, I hope this means The Wolf Among Us 2 has a chance to come out after all. The Wolf Among Us is one of the properties they’ve acquired, and it’s the sequel I was looking forward to the most.”
So I guess you’re consistent.
(I also never explained what happened to ATARI in the comments section but maybe you figured it out after.)
Yeah, I’ve been pounding the table for a Wolf Among Us sequel pretty much from the moment I finished the first game.
(I actually forgot about your Atari comparison.)
This really is fantastic news. I’m so glad they are still able to make it. I hope everything that has happened to Telltale won’t effect the quality of the end product. Can’t wait to see it finally completed.
Well, it’s a new company now, essentially a new Telltale, but I hope they’re able to do a good job with it.
I assume it’s mostly the same staff?
Oh yeah, I was excited for Sons of the Forest. I loved The Forest.
I’m not sure if they’ve said much about the staff.
I’ve never played The Forest.
I recommend it. It can be really creepy at times and there’s some really messed up things to find. It’s one of the few games that is actually scary. Sometimes you don’t see anything for ages, then one of the freaks will surprise you out of no where. Good times.
Interesting! I’ll look into it sometime.
