Long ago, the Ancients who watched over the world entered contracts with certain royal families. Such contracts enabled an Ancient’s power to become manifest through a Familiar, a magical energy in physical form.
This magic gave these royal families the power to rule over those who could not channel Familiars. As they took control, they became known as the Sovereigns.
For centuries, they existed apart from one another. Some chose to rule as benevolent leaders and protect their lands from the barbarism of other families who used their powers to conquer or control. However, over the course of generations, several Sovereigns began to unite under the guise of an “Age of Peace.”
This so-called Age of Peace brought the royal families together in a powerful alliance. For a time, this alliance was not forced upon any families unwilling to join. The powerful but magnanimous Aeolos family, among others, continued to watch over and protect their realms independently.
Over time, however, the Sovereigns began to single out the families who refused their call. One by one, they eradicated these families, dismantled their kingdoms, and divided up their land.
At last, even the Aeolosian Empire fell. Now, society has become a caste system controlled by the small percentage of people who share the Sovereigns’ extraordinary power.
From a young prince disturbed by his family’s secrets to a brave huntress whose life is changed forever, you will pick your race, gender, and background to create your own custom character.
A twist of fate finds you in a forbidden contract with Chaos, the Forgotten Ancient sealed away for eons, and a mysterious Sovereign calls upon you for aid. Your quest will send you into a world torn by war, the start of greater devastation to come.
The Age of Peace has ended. It is time for the Age of Chaos to begin.
