Operation Backlog Completion 2026

The Game Awards will be held a week from tomorrow, on December 11 at 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET. It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year already.

I still haven’t played a lot of the nominated games, and my favorites so far this year weren’t nominated at all, so I don’t have many strong feelings about the awards themselves.

So, as is typical for me, I’ll mainly be watching for announcements. The Game Awards has had some great surprises in the past, such as last year’s including the announcement of Project Century (now titled Stranger Than Heaven), Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and the Okami sequel.

Will we have surprises on that level again this year?

You know what? I’m hoping for an Ace Attorney announcement. I know, Ace Attorney is a pretty niche series for the Game Awards… but I was convinced that this was our year, and I’m not giving up just yet. The update to the Phoenix Wright Trilogy is out now, so the time is perfect for a new announcement.

I’ve also got my fingers crossed for Kingdom Hearts IV. It’s been so long since we last saw anything.

And how about Control 2? It’s been a while since it was announced, and a trailer at the Game Awards would be great.

No matter what is announced, however, I’ve got enough in my backlog to keep me busy for a long time… and maybe I’ve got enough time over the next week to at least try some of the nominated games!

What are you hoping to see at the Game Awards?

December is here, NaNoWriMo is over, and we’ve got some Danganronpa to discuss.

On the weekend, there were some special live streams for Danganronpa’s 15th anniversary, including our first look at the upcoming Danganronpa 2×2.

In case you missed it, Danganronpa 2×2 was announced in the September Nintendo Direct. It’s a full remake of Danganronpa 2 that also includes a whole new scenario where the story plays out with new victims and killers.

Now, the demo shown in the stream isn’t meant to shed light on the new scenario, but rather to give us a better idea of what the remake will look like. The victim in the demo isn’t even a Danganronpa 2 character; it’s Hiro from the first game (apparently they kill him in every Danganronpa demo, like a running joke).

You can check it out for yourself in the stream, starting around 36:28.

For my part, I mostly like the new sprites. Their movements can be unsettling sometimes, but they have plenty of still sprites as well, so I don’t think it will bother me too much.

I’m still mostly interested in the 2×2 scenario, but it was nice to get this glimpse of Danganronpa 2×2. Are you looking forward to it? And if so, will you be playing the remake first or jumping straight to the new scenario?
