Operation Backlog Completion 2026

We talked about Alien: Isolation 2 earlier this year when its first teaser was released, and it left me cautiously optimistic.

I loved Alien: Isolation, and I’d love to see a sequel that lives up to it.

That’s what has me a little nervous. It was such a good horror game that it’s easy to imagine a sequel not hitting those same highs. On the other hand, it could be a sequel that keeps its strengths while improving on its low points.

Well, we should be able to better judge the sequel next week, because Creative Assembly announced that the prologue will be playable at Gamescom.

(I actually forgot Gamescom was this close.)

That should result in some good previews that give us an idea of what to expect.

Meanwhile, the Gamescom Opening Night Live stream will be on August 25 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, with a pre-show 30 minutes earlier, so I’ll be sure to tune in for that. Hoping for Ace Attorney news, of course.

Are you looking forward to Gamescom?

It’s been over a decade since we discussed Alien: Isolation, and now the sequel has finally gotten its first teaser.

I loved Alien: Isolation, even though I felt the final section should have been shortened a bit, and think it’s an excellent example of survival horror.

(Wow, I can’t even say “in recent years” now, can I?)

I’ve had mixed feelings about a sequel, mainly because the original was so good that it’s easy to imagine a sequel not reaching those same heights.

Still, I can’t help but be cautiously optimistic after the teaser. The teaser is very short, but it gives a taste of the atmosphere and ends on a shot of the station where you’d save your game in the original.

Here’s hoping the sequel is just as tense and filled with dread as Alien: Isolation was.

What are you hoping for from the Alien: Isolation sequel?
