Operation Backlog Completion 2026

Kingdom Hearts III has been featured in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, and thanks to translations from KH13 and Gematsu, we’ve learned lots of new things.

One part that stood out to me the most was that Nomura is concerned that Kingdom Hearts III’s high volume might cause capacity problems.

I’ve been hoping it will be a long game, so that sounds promising.

He also confirmed a “secret movie,” which most likely refers to the sort of secret endings past Kingdom Hearts games have had.

There are a lot of new gameplay details discussing mini-games, Keyblade techniques, and more.

The most confusing part is a discussion of the former Organization XIII members. One translation made it sound as though they were all back as humans, but a later translation sounds like the members of the new Organization (Xigbar, Marluxia, etc.) came back as humans but then became Nobodies again, possibly in a different way than usual.

Hopefully that will be clearer in the game itself.

Finally, Nomura touched on the topic of DLC and said that he’d like to expand the gameplay through DLC, with standalone DLC after they complete the main game. That sounds like they’ll focus on making the main game complete before they do anything else, so I’m not opposed to DLC in that context.

I can’t wait to play Kingdom Hearts III. The delay to January was disappointing, but it’s still not far off. Remember, if you want to catch up on the story before Kingdom Hearts III, I’ve detailed the best order to play the Kingdom Hearts games. Every game is important!

Are you looking forward to Kingdom Hearts III? What do you think is up with the former Nobodies?

Today was a huge day for Kingdom Hearts fans thanks to the Kingdom Hearts 3 Premiere Event, where many people got to try a demo build of Kingdom Hearts III for the first time.

With the embargo lifted, we now have plenty of gameplay details, videos, and screenshots. Here’s a compilation of comments about the premiere at KH Insider, with impressions from various publications.

The premiere event featured the Hercules and Toy Story worlds. Take a look at these new gameplay videos from each.

I’m pretty excited for the Toy Story world especially.

The overall consensus is that Kingdom Hearts III feels great, but let’s take a look at some of the specific details revealed.

As shown in the Toy Story gameplay video, Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph is a new summon. This is the second summon confirmed alongside Ariel. You’ll also be able to skip the summon intro.

You can have multiple Keyblades equipped and switch between them. Different Keyblades have their own Shotlock attacks. There are also different team commands in different worlds.

Somehow, Young Xehanort has split the Toy Story world in two in order to better understand hearts. (He can do that?) There is a possessed doll that the team must fight, too.

Rex also mistakes Sora for a character from a video game he’s playing, where he’s been stuck on a fight with Bahamut.

The official Kingdom Hearts Twitter account shared a bunch of new Kingdom Hearts III screenshots, too, and they look great!

There’s also a new interview with Nomura from Famitsu, translated at KH Insider. According to Nomura, the big themes in Kingdom Hearts III are “What is a heart?” and “resolution.”

The worlds in Kingdom Hearts III will be “vertically expansive,” with features such as wall-climbing. Each world will have new gameplay elements, such as the Gigas robots in the Toy Story world. The areas do look like they’re pretty big.

There will be other mini-games aside from the Classic Kingdom mini-games. As for the Classic Kingdom games, they won’t be all unlocked from the start. Instead, you’ll have to collect them. They’ll be played through a device called the “Mobile Portal,” which has other features as well.

Finally, everyone was hoping we might get a release date announcement today… but we didn’t. However, Nomura said the release date should be announced “early next month.”

Did I miss anything? Probably. There’s a ton of Kingdom Hearts III information out there now. What do you think about how Kingdom Hearts III is shaping up? As for me, I’m excited!

During the flood of Kingdom Hearts III news at February D23 Expo, we learned that there would be at least one Game & Watch style mini-game.

Now we know a lot more. Giantland is only one of many.

This weekend, a Kingdom Hearts Union χ fan event called the Dandelion Meeting took place. While it was mainly focused on KHUX, they also revealed that there will be over 20 mini-games based on classic Mickey Mouse cartoons and old LCD games.

The trailer was then released for everyone else to see.

In the new trailer, Sora receives a game device from none other than Hayner, Pence, and Olette (yes, the Twilight Town trio is back), which lets him play these mini-games.

Some people have started blaming the mini-games for KH3 not being out yet, which is an odd stance to take. They’re just simple mini-games. I doubt they’ve slowed down development that much.

These games, which are collectively called Classic Kingdom, will also be playable in Union χ sometime before Kingdom Hearts III launches.

KHUX is also getting some new features… and a chance to get your name in Kingdom Hearts III.

The “Make Your Mark” campaign will let 300 players have their KHUX name appear in Kingdom Hearts III, based on certain criteria explained in the link above. If you’re a KHUX player, there is an entry form you can complete between now and May 1 if you want a chance at being selected.

Anyway, thanks to KH Insider’s coverage of the meeting, we also have a few other things to think about.

During the Q&A, they revealed that a new world is coming to KHUX and Kingdom Hearts III will include a summons from that world. They also said that the new Union Leaders will be tied in with Kingdom Hearts III.

With these Union Leaders, you’ll see them tied in with KH3. You’ll see hints of their existence. Their stories interwine a bit with KH3, but they will have their own fate and Nomura has already plotted it out. There is meaning behind them, even in their names and even in spelling. We will continue to explore their narrative.”

All in all, some interesting details from the KHUX event! I was going to review Xenoblade Chronicles 2 today, but I decided to cover this first. I also realized that I apparently never reviewed Finding Paradise, so you can expect to see that soon, as well.

What do you think about the Kingdom Hearts III mini-games?
