My horror novella The Book at Dernier has been available at The Red Penny Papers since 2013, but now it is also available in print.

For a while now, the original has been more difficult to navigate due to changes on the site. (You can still find it here, but you’ll need to add “wordpress” to the URLs for the links to work.)

Not only did I want to make that easier, but I also always dreamed of making a print version available. Since the rights have returned to me, I’ve now self-published a new edition.

The Book at Dernier follows Paul Bryce, an obsessive scholar who digs into the dark secrets of a small town called Dernier and finds himself caught up in a nightmare.

(Of all of my Lovecraft-inspired horror stories, the inspiration might be strongest in this one.)

This paperback reprint of The Book at Dernier includes additional revisions and a few new scenes. It is available now at Amazon, and I will also have copies available at book signings later this year.

You can also add it on Goodreads.

The ebook version isn’t ready yet, but that should be up and available shortly as well.

October is almost here, and we’ll have plenty of horror to discuss as Halloween approaches, so this is perfect timing. And if you’ve read either version of The Book at Dernier, I’d love it if you left a review!

After pre-orders opened up last week, my horror novelette It Came Back is now available!

You can read it for free at The Book Smugglers or buy an ebook copy from Amazon, Smashwords, or directly from the publisher (available at the bottom of the page).

And of course, you can add it on Goodreads.

The Book Smugglers also has a short post from me about the inspirations and influences that led to It Came Back. This is also included with the ebook copies.

Inspiration can come from anywhere, and mine aren’t often what you’d expect. The video game I mention in that post was from one of my favorite series. Silent Hill? Nope. Resident Evil? Nope. Ace Attorney!

And it led to a horror story.

Yep, that’s how inspiration works sometimes.

I hope you enjoy It Came Back and consider getting the ebook version. If you read it, be sure to leave a review and let me know your thoughts!

As you might recall, the horror anthology Final Masquerade (which includes my short story “The Artist”) became unavailable after the publisher changed hands.

Now Final Masquerade is back, in both ebook and print formats, with a new cover.

“The Artist” came out last year and is my most recent publication, but don’t forget that you can look forward to “Nightmare Stalker” this summer!

In other (non-horror, non-writing) news, I updated Monday’s blog post to include the official announcement of Tokyo RPG Factory’s new game, the unusually-titled Lost Sphear. It’s one of many games I’ll be looking forward to in 2018.

Have you read “The Artist” yet? If not, will you be picking up Final Masquerade now that it’s available again?
