Operation Backlog Completion 2026

Over the past few months, six of my drabbles were published at SpeckLit. A drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words–sort of super-specific flash fiction. These six stories are:

They’re horror and dark fantasy, except for “Across the River,” which is somewhat lighter in tone and based on mythology. If you haven’t read them before, go take a look. Each is only 100 words long, after all.

Now, my drabbles have a chance at winning “The Best of SpeckLit 2nd Quarter 2014,” if they get enough votes. Readers can pick their top 3 drabbles, and the 3 with the most votes at the end of the month will win! Winning would be fantastic, but I can’t do it without your help.

So please, take a couple of minutes and vote for three of my stories. If you can spread the word, that would be fantastic, too.

Thanks everyone! Any and all votes are appreciated!

Last week, the semester came to an end. That means I have more time to relax (and work on my writing, of course) now, but it also means that for the past couple of weeks, I was pretty busy. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I was aware that my third SpeckLit drabble would be published on May 9, and I told myself I would write a little announcement about it.

Well, better late than never, “Cursed” is my attempt to place a curse on a character with only 100 words to work with. And it turns out I remembered to write my announcement on the perfect day, because today marks the release of my next drabble, “Monsters.”

Maybe I should work on some more drabbles soon…

But in the meantime, I have freelance work and several stories to keep me occupied. See you around!

I love alliteration.

Anyway, my main reason for this post is to let you know that I’ve received the schedule for when my drabbles will appear at SpeckLit.

Scarf – April 1
Numb – April 21
Cursed – May 9
Monsters – May 21
Across the River – June 18
Magic – June 26

So we have three months of drabbles to look forward to. Remember, a drabble is a story told in exactly 100 words, so you can head on over to the site now to see what sorts of things they publish.

Also, this past weekend, the wonderful people at Horror Books posted about The Book at Dernier.

Have you read The Book at Dernier yet? Let me know your thoughts on it in the comments below.
