What a journey we’ve gone on with Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link.
Missing Link was another mobile game, this one using GPS mechanics, and we did get some interesting details from the trailers and beta test.
Then the news came that Missing Link was cancelled.
Since we’d barely seen anything from Kingdom Hearts IV at the time, the sudden cancellation of the mobile game presumably meant to bridge the gap came as a blow even to fans like me who don’t care much about mobile games.
Now, the intro to the game has seemingly leaked, first a partial video yesterday and now the full nearly 5-minute intro today. I won’t link to it here, but you should be able to find it if you search.
I’m not quite sure what to think. The intro is crazy, and the first part had me questioning if it was even Missing Link or if it was all a misunderstanding and it was actually something else entirely. Some people are still arguing that it’s fake due to some odd parts of the video, but right now the general feeling is that it’s legitimate.
My biggest question coming out of it is just, “What the heck was this story going to be about?” It looks so strange!
Kingdom Hearts keeps getting mobile entries with stories that are too interesting to be trapped in an eventually-cancelled mobile game, so I can’t help but hope Missing Link’s story returns in some form, maybe a movie or a non-mobile game. If not, maybe they can incorporate parts of it into Kingdom Hearts IV.
On the other hand, I’ve now seen several fans joke that it is literally the “missing link” in the series. Fitting…
What are your thoughts on Missing Link and the leaked intro?
I am still confused how that was intended to be a Mobile game, like what???
I am just waiting for KH4 to still be written as if we’d all played Missing Link and just have it all glossed over or put in a flashback cutscene or something xD
