Near the start of the year, we discussed the newly-announced anime based on Layton’s Mystery Journey.

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy is quite a mouthful of a title, and they must like that, because the anime is apparently called Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat’s Mystery-Solving Files. (I don’t think we need “Mystery” twice in that title.)

Layton Mystery Detective Agency: Kat’s Mystery-Solving Files will be aired every Sunday at 8:30 JST in Japan. The first episode has been announced for April 8.

They haven’t said anything about subtitles or a dubbed version yet, but hopefully there will be a way to watch the Layton anime in English.

Level-5 also released the first trailer.

The most notable part of this trailer is that at the end, Kat encounters someone who appears to be Professor Layton himself! But since this is the Professor Layton series and we don’t see his face, I’d say there’s a good chance it’s someone else in disguise.

I still hope to play Layton’s Mystery Journey soon, especially if there’s a chance we’ll be able to watch this series. Are you looking forward to the Layton anime? What do you think of the trailer?

Last week, we finally got new details about the Layton anime first announced in October.

According to the new information, the anime is based on Layton’s Mystery Journey and will star Katrielle Layton.

It will be a “high-speed comical mystery-solving story,” and it sounds like it might tell an original story instead of adapting the game, although that isn’t entirely clear.

Back in October, they said it would be a 26-episode series, but this new information listed it at 50 episodes. That’s pretty impressive!

The movie, Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, was pretty entertaining, if a bit convoluted due to cramming a Layton plot into less than two hours. 50 anime episodes should give the show a much better pace, especially if it focuses on smaller mysteries.

I wonder if it will include puzzles.

There will also be a manga adaptation of the anime, as well as “stylish goods.” Both are due out in spring 2018. I’ll try to play Layton’s Mystery Journey before then!

What are your hopes for the upcoming Layton anime?

Remember the announcement that the Ace Attorney anime would receive an English dub? (I actually forgot.) Well, we now know who the voice cast will be!

Funimation made a new announcement revealing the English voice actors not only for the main characters, but also for supporting characters.

Hopefully announcing the full voice cast means the dub is coming soon. The anime was enjoyable enough, despite some pacing issues, but I’d especially recommend it to someone who has played the first two games.

I already have a Funimation subscription, because I’ve been using it to watch shows like Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, and Durarara!! (No, I’m not just excited about it, the title is “Durarara!!”) What other anime should I try?

Meanwhile, Ace Attorney rumors are out in full force, with one person claiming the game will be announced on December 14 and will include the return of Franziska and Nahyuta, as well as another old character who will be central to the plot.

Is this person telling the truth (despite a dubious history)? Well, if an announcement comes out on December 14, it will add credibility to their claims.

Are you planning to watch the dubbed version of the Ace Attorney anime? Do you believe any of the Ace Attorney 7 rumors you’ve seen?
