Mistonia no Kibou and Utakata no Uchronia Localizations Announced

I waited until after Aksys’s news from Anime Expo to write today’s blog post, and Aksys didn’t disappoint!

Before we get to Aksys, let’s talk about a couple other Anime Expo announcements quick. First, yesterday Sekai Project announced that the upcoming new Nekopara game, Nekopara After, was originally intended to be DLC but has now become a full release on its own.

Second, NISA announced that Ys X: Nordics will be out on October 25 in the west, and preorders for the limited edition have opened. Today, they followed that with the largely-expected news that Trails through Daybreak II will be coming west in early 2025.

Now let’s move on to Aksys!

On the otome front, we got three main announcements.

Mistonia no Kibou – The Lost Delight has been confirmed for localization next year. This is an otome dealing with fairies and a heroine seeking revenge, and it looks beautiful. It’s the one I’m the most interested in right now (although I wish the main character’s name wasn’t Applause, because I’m not sure I can take that seriously).

The really surprising thing, though, is that it isn’t even out in Japan yet. It’s coming out on July 18. For localization to be confirmed before the game is even out in Japan seems like a great sign for how much the otome localization situation has improved.

Utaka no Uchronia is also coming west in 2025. This one is set in a flying city, and I know a lot of people were hoping it would be announced.

The Switch port of 7’scarlet is also coming west, with a more specific window of Spring 2025. I never played the Vita or PC version, but it’s one I’ve considered, so I might keep this in mind.

As for their already-announced titles, the Virche Evermore fandisc got a release date of November 7, and the 2025 release window for Despera Drops was also narrowed down to spring.

2025’s otome lineup is already looking stacked.

They had a few non-otome announcements as well, including a zombie RPG called Raging Bytes that looks like it could be interesting.

So we’ve gotten plenty of great announcements out of Anime Expo so far, with still more to come. Don’t forget that Idea Factory is holding a separate event tomorrow as well!

Ys Memoire: The Oath of Felghana Coming Next Year

When we discussed the upcoming Anime Expo announcements, I mentioned that Xseed had a secret title to be announced ahead of time.

That game turned out to be Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, which will be coming west for Switch, PS4, and PS5 sometime next year.

This… was not a huge shock, because on Sunday Xseed accidentally sent out a tweet meant for after Anime Expo, which showed The Oath in Felghana in place of the secret title placeholder. But whether you saw the accidental tweet, learned about it from the official announcement, or just found out right now, this is exciting news!

Since the Ys titles can get a little confusing, here’s a quick explanation. In 1989, Ys III: Wanderers from Ys was released. It was remade in 2005 as Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which was ported to the PSP in 2010 and then localized for both PC and PSP. In 2023, it was remastered for the Nintendo Switch as Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, and that remaster was brought to the PS4 and PS5 earlier this year.

That is the version we’re talking about today – the remaster of the remake of the third Ys game.

According to the official website, it features quality of life improvements, remastered visuals and audio with the option to switch to the classic illustrations or between different versions of the soundtrack, and voice acting for Adol for the first time.

They also announced the “Refined Edition” (pictured above), which includes the game, a soundtrack, a postcard set, a microfiber cloth, and an acrylic keychain diorama set. Preorders have already opened for just $59.99, so I’m pretty tempted.

Ys is one of those series I’ve been slooowly getting into, so I’m not ready to play this one yet. Nevertheless, it’s great to see this remaster coming west (which also opens the door for other Xseed-published Falcom games to still appear despite NISA handling most of the new localizations now). I look forward to getting there eventually!

Tokyo Clanpool Coming West for Switch and PC

Today, publisher eastasiasoft held a showcase of their upcoming games.

One of the games they showed was an unexpected announcement: Tokyo Clanpool is coming to the Switch and PC later this year, with an English (and Chinese) translation for the first time.

Tokyo Clanpool is a Compile Heart dungeon crawler RPG release in 2017 for the PS Vita, although it never made it out of Japan.

When a mysterious tower appears and monsters threaten Tokyo, you play as the young Prime Minister leading her “Diet Dolls” into the tower to fight the monsters in turn-based combat. A unique feature due to the main character’s status is that you need to keep an eye on your approval rating to keep the support of your citizens.

It’s a weird idea, but it sounds like it could be fun.

Now, I would have said I never heard about Tokyo Clanpool before, but the funny thing is that while I was looking for information about it, I found a reddit post about the initial PS Vita version that I had upvoted. It seems I knew about Tokyo Clanpool at the time and was hoping it would get localized.

So… even though I completely forgot about it in the 7 years since then, I’m finally getting my wish!

In addition to the standard edition, a Limited Edition will also be available from Play-Asia, with preorders opening on July 4. The Limited Edition includes the game, a manual, an art book, a sticker sheet, a poster, and a numbered certificate.

Eastasiasoft has had a number of interesting titles lately, with the major one for me being Hakuoki: Chronicles of Wind and Blossom. They’re quickly becoming a publisher whose announcements I look forward to, and this is yet another one to keep an eye on!
