PlatinumGames is on the list of Nintendo Switch partners, so we know they’re working on something.

But what is it?

Their new Japanese Twitter account got people talking last week by posting official red and blue artwork of Bayonetta.

On the surface, that’s nothing special. Red and blue match the colors of the neon Joy-Con controllers for the Nintendo Switch, sure, but they’re also the colors associated with Bayonetta in each game.

When fans started comparing the colors to the Joy-Cons, however, PlatinumGames liked their tweets.

I loved Bayonetta and thought Bayonetta 2 was even better, so I’d love to see another game made. Still, you can’t say for sure it’s a tease when all they did was like a few tweets.

On the other hand, if the official Wonderful 101 artwork posted later isn’t a tease, what is it?

When PlatinumGames posts official artwork of Wonderful 101 characters playing what appears to be The Wonderful 101 on a Nintendo Switch, that seems like a pretty strong hint. And since their jackets say “W101” instead of “W100,” it might even be a tease for a sequel!

I enjoyed The Wonderful 101 and will absolutely get The Wonderful 102 (or whatever they call it) if it’s announced. And I finally bought a Nintendo Switch from Amazon (they’re sporadically in stock, so check back often to see if the price returns to $299), so I’ll be able to play it!

(The other art included in the tweet features Vorkken, Immorta, and some unknown characters, but since it has a copyright date of 2013, it’s probably not a hint about something new.)

Kamiya isn’t helping matters, as he simply replied with a smile when asked on Twitter about Bayonetta 1 & 2, the Wonderful 101, and potential sequels coming to the Switch.

What do you think? Is PlatinumGames teasing Bayonetta and/or The Wonderful 101 (or Bayonetta 3 and The Wonderful 102) for the Switch?

The April 11 Bayonetta announcement turned out to be a sudden release of the first game for PC (which itself seems to be teasing Vanquish on PC next).

But now fans have new reason to hope for a Bayonetta 3 announcement.

PlatinumGames recently updated its Japanese blog with a new post about English lessons led by Bayonetta.

Bayonetta English lessons are as absurd as you might expect, but what caught people’s attention is that the blog post is split into three lessons, each of which uses video clips of Bayonetta saying an English line that is looped three times.

Three lessons? Three loops?

It might feel like a Half-Life 3 conspiracy, but we can’t help but hope this is a hint of Bayonetta 3. Of course, repetition fits the theme of it being a lesson, but why is PlatinumGames posting Bayonetta English lessons on their blog in the first place?

If Bayonetta 3 does exist, everyone’s next question is whether it will be an exclusive or a multiplatform title.

This has once again ignited claims that it was a “mistake” to put Bayonetta 2 on the Wii U, even though the options were that or no Bayonetta 2 at all. If you want a multiplatform Bayonetta 2, you better hope another publisher has realized the game could be profitable.

But whether it’s a multiplatform game, a Switch-exclusive, or something else, maybe more Bayonetta isn’t a pipe dream for this E3.

Do you think this is a tease for Bayonetta 3, or is it just a coincidence?

(Today is Alien Day, so I wanted to address the rumors of an Alien Isolation sequel, but apparently those rumors have already been declared false.)

For April Fool’s Day, Sega released 8-Bit Bayonetta on Steam for free.

8-Bit Bayonetta has been available for a while as a browser game you can play on the 404 page at the website for PlatinumGames. This is basically the same thing, just with achievements.

But is there more to it than a joke?

If you look closely at the pictures for the achievements “In the Face” and “High Score,” you’ll notice letters and numbers. When put together, these two images form a URL: sega.com/14111219

(The numbers come from the character’s birthday: 12/19/1411.)

This URL leads to a countdown page, with a timer than ends on April 11 at 8 AM PDT / 11 AM EDT. Behind the countdown, a faint image shows Bayonetta’s heel and ribbon.

The most popular theory from this Bayonetta countdown is that, just like 8-Bit Bayonetta was released on Steam, the original Bayonetta will be made available for the PC at last. Other people speculate this could mean we’re getting a new Bayonetta game, maybe for multiple systems (such as the Nintendo Switch, since PlatinumGames is a confirmed Switch partner).

At the very least, it suggests Sega is willing to give the Bayonetta series a chance again. What do you think we’ll learn when the countdown ends on April 11?
