Operation Backlog Completion 2026

The isekai visual novel Ascendant Hearts, which I wrote the script for, is coming to the Nintendo Switch!

It will be available from the Nintendo eShop for $9.99 on January 30.

Ascendant Hearts is a romantic comedy visual novel about a young man who wakes up in a fantasy world where the rules of RPGs govern real life. It parodies a lot of JRPG and MMORPG tropes, and it’s also a galge/bishojo game with three possible romance options.

I’m excited that a project I played a major role in is going to be available on Switch. I had a lot of fun working on Ascendant Hearts, so I hope you’ll take a look if you like romance visual novels.

(Speaking of such things, people responded positively to my social media polls about holding a romance game event in February, so you can look forward to those reviews coming up next month!)

Here is the new trailer for the Switch release of Ascendant Hearts.

(I almost posted another Kingdom Hearts article today instead, since the KHUX team’s announcement turned out to be “Project Xehanort,” an upcoming prequel about Young Xehanort… for mobile devices. I’ve wanted that game forever, so I would be much more excited if it wasn’t a mobile game.

I decided to save that post for once we have more information.)

Anyway, what do you think of Ascendant Hearts and its upcoming Switch release? Let me know in the comments!

What’s this, two posts in the same day?

That’s right, because I have a special announcement this Halloween!

This year, I worked with a team from Party Tales participating in the Spooktober Visual Novel Jam, which challenged people to create a horror or otherwise spooky visual novel during the month of October.

Now, the visual novel we made for the event is available from itch.io: Not It.

Not It is a choice-driven horror visual novel about a town plagued by a curse every Halloween… and the group of people who end up trapped at the inn on Halloween night.

I was the writer for Not It, so if you check it out, be sure to let me know what you think!

Happy Halloween!

Yes, it’s that time of year again! Welcome to the 2019 run of Celebrating All Things Spooky!

Special Events

Let’s start off with a sale. From October 5 – October 31, eBook copies of my horror novella The Book at Dernier and horror novelette It Came Back will be on sale for $0.99 at Amazon.

Of course, my zombie comedy The Zombie Mishap and my short stories, all of which are listed here, are available as well.

Prefer physical copies? I’ll be signing copies of The Book at Dernier, The Zombie Mishap, and the pulp fiction collection Domino Lady Volume 3 at Wellsboro’s BookFest on October 19.

And if you’re here for video games, don’t forget that this year I also worked on Two Till Midnight, a horror game available now from Steam.

Here on the site, October will once again be filled with horror game reviews and news… and of course, a contest!
