Level-5 Showcase Announce for April 10 (Are We Excited?)

Level-5 has announced the next Level-5 Vision, the showcase they’ve held regularly ever since their revival.

It will be streamed on April 10 at 21:00 JST, which is 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET, with English subtitles available.

The stream will feature “the latest news and updates” on their games.

So… are we excited?

I want to say yes. I love Level-5. Their sudden return with new announcements was one of the best Nintendo Directs ever for me, and even all the subsequent delays could be forgiven since Fantasy Life i came out to a great reception (although I still need to play it).

But Level-5 has been frustratingly supportive of generative AI, whether it’s the AI-generated art used in the trailer for Holy Horror Mansion or the presentation where their described AI use included coming up with side quests for Decapolice.

It’s made me worry about Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, even though they haven’t said anything about using AI there.

So, I’m going into this Level-5 showcase with more fears than hopes. How do you feel about Level-5’s upcoming games right now?

Sakura Wars Prepares for 30th Anniversary

The first game in the Sakura Wars series came out on September 27, 1996, which means this year will be its 30th anniversary.

Sega has revealed a 30th anniversary logo, along with the promise of merch and events.

It’s disappointing that they haven’t even hinted at a new game announcement for the anniversary, but maybe there’s still hope.

We last talked about Sakura Wars in December, when fans noticed the official social media account had seen more active for the past few months. That hasn’t led to anything yet, but the anniversary feels like a great opportunity for it.

I’d love if they celebrated the anniversary with a remaster collection of the original games (or even just started with the first one) that could get an official translation. I do want to play the 2019 game sometime, but I’m even more interested in the older ones.

Muv-Luv Unlimited: The Day After Standalone Versions Coming to the Switch

I remember back in 2023 when Muv-Luv was announced for the Switch, the contents of the special edition were a little puzzling.

The Muv-Luv 20th Odyssey Box came with several exclusive bonuses, including the four episodes of Muv-Luv Unlimited: The Day After.

This was unexpected since The Day After hadn’t been announced for the Switch.

And it wasn’t announced after that, either. Muv-Luv Unlimited: The Day After got a Switch release, but it was only available through that special edition collection.

Well, that’s finally changed.

Muv-Luv Unlimited: The Day After is coming to the Nintendo Switch on April 16. According to Gematsu, the four episodes will be available both separately and as a set.

I enjoyed The Day After and its bleak timeline, and I hope Resonative actually comes out someday, since it seems to be in some sort of limbo. In the meantime, I’m glad The Day After will be more readily available for fans playing on the Switch!
