Operation Backlog Completion 2026

As expected, the Capcom Spotlight had no new announcements, but it did have a new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.

It looks great!

I enjoyed the first Monster Hunter Stories, and I bought Monster Hunter Stories 2 (even though I haven’t played it yet since it came out that same year when everything came out), but the third entry in the series looks especially good.

I don’t intend to play it right away, because I still want to play the second game first, but I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be out on March 13, so it’s almost here.

In addition to the launch trailer, Capcom also revealed a separate, special animated launch trailer featuring events that happen before the start of the game. It’s short, but it’s worth watching.

(Oh, and the Bandai Namco announcement ended up being Sword Art Online after all.)

Meanwhile, don’t give up hope on Ace Attorney being announced this year. It was never likely to be at a Capcom Spotlight, after all. Capcom’s latest financial report also confirms that they still have unannounced games for the next fiscal year, so I think we’ve got a good shot of getting an announcement this year. Maybe they’ll hold a full showcase in June again…

So, are you looking forward to Monster Hunter Stories 3?

We just finished Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase yesterday, and now we’ve already got more events to look forward to.

Capcom has announced a Capcom Spotlight for tomorrow, March 5, at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET.

It will last 30 minutes and feature Mega Man: Dual Override (specifically the winners of the recent contest they held, so maybe that means they won’t actually show the game), Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, Monster Hunter Stories 3, Pragmata, and Street Fighter 6.

Now, the streams they call “Spotlights” very rarely have new announcements in them, so we shouldn’t hold our breath for Ace Attorney news. I’ll be hoping anyway, of course.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco is also going to make an announcement tomorrow. At 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET, they’ll announce a new RPG. A tiny teaser included with the announcement gives us a glimpse of what to expect.

Lots of people are thinking Tales, but it doesn’t give me Tales vibes. The UI made me think Souls, although the teaser doesn’t. I’ve seen some people suggest it’s a new Sword Art Online game, which I could see, especially with the transition to the Bandai Namco logo at the end.

Just in case it’s a game that interests me, I’ll check out the announcement when the time comes.

So, what do you expect from tomorrow’s events? Do you think there will be any surprises in the Capcom Spotlight? What do you think Bandai Namco’s new RPG will be?

I’ve been waiting for the next general Nintendo Direct, but Nintendo keeps holding other showcases instead, this time a new Indie World Showcase.

The Indie World Showcase will be held tomorrow, March 3, at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET and last for 15 minutes.

Being an indie showcase, this is one of those rare game events where I’m not holding my breath for Ace Attorney news.

In fact… I’m not sure what to hope for from this one. There aren’t any particular indie games I’ve been looking forward to news on, so I’ll just be hoping for some nice surprises.

(The one thing that comes to mind is Deltarune, but it’s probably way too soon for the next part of that, not that I’m caught up anyway.)

Meanwhile, Pokémon Pokopia has been getting such great views that I’m feeling a little bit tempted… except I don’t have a Switch 2 yet, and I’m not that tempted. Whenever a game comes out that finally compels me to get a Switch 2 (the next Monolith Soft game, maybe?), I’ll probably end up getting Pokopia.

Getting back to the Indie World Showcase, are there any games you’re hoping to see? Any specific indie announcements you’ve been waiting for?
