Operation Backlog Completion 2026

Here we are, in 2025, and we still don’t have Ace Attorney 7.

But you know me, I have boundless optimism for the series these days. I thought Ace Attorney’s future looked brighter than ever even before we got a direct confirmation from Capcom that the series will continue and an official translation of Investigations 2.

With the entire series (except for the crossover) available now on modern platforms, it’s the perfect time for a new entry in the series!

I’m still of the opinion that releasing both the Apollo Justice Trilogy and the Investigations Collection last year instead of spacing them out more makes the most sense if they were clearing the way for a new announcement. I’m also still hopeful those mysterious captions will lead to a new Great Ace Attorney game.

But whether it’s Ace Attorney 7, The Great Ace Attorney Investigations, or something entirely new, when are our best chances of getting Ace Attorney news?

A Nintendo Direct

I’ve got my fingers crossed that it won’t be long before we get a general Nintendo Direct, and that is one possible place for a new Ace Attorney announcement. After all, it was at a Nintendo Direct that they revealed the Investigations Collection. They’ve never announced a new entry in the series at a Nintendo Direct before, but it’s not unreasonable.

Gamescom

Gamescom 2025 begins with the Opening Night Live showcase on August 19 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, with the convention itself being held over the next few days after that. While it doesn’t look like Capcom is having their own show, they’ll be at Gamescom with playable demos of Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition, and Kunitsu-Gami. Maybe they’ll have new game announcements too?

Ace Attorney feels a little too niche for a big reveal during Gamescom Opening Night, so I won’t hold my breath (but I’ll still be hoping).

PAX West

Not long after that, Capcom will be at PAX West, again with playable demos of Requiem, Onimusha, and Pragmata, but also with a Capcom Presents panel on August 31.

We’ve discussed how Capcom has different names depending on the type of live stream it is, and I think a “Capcom Presents” usually focuses on already-announced games. I’m not actually expecting anything here (but I’ll still hold out a little bit of hope, just in case).

Tokyo Game Show

Finally, Tokyo Game Show will be held from September 25-28, and that’s always an event where I hope for Ace Attorney news. A big Japanese gaming event feels like a fitting place to announce an entry in a smaller series like Ace Attorney. Capcom is on the list for TGA exhibitors, so maybe there’s a real chance!

If I had to rank them for how likely I think it is that they’ll announce a new Ace Attorney game, I’d say Nintendo Direct > TGS > Gamescom > PAX West.

But who knows? Let’s not forget that “announced in a tweet on a random day” is also possible.

Do you think we’ll get Ace Attorney news this year? If they do announce a new game, where do you think it will be revealed? Join me in my delusions in the comments!

Today is the day. On July 9, 2015, The Great Ace Attorney first came out for the 3DS in Japan.

I remember when it was first announced. Initially, I was uncertain about an Ace Attorney game set in the past with a new cast of characters, but I quickly came around to being excited for it.

I remember my excitement and confusion over the reveal of Sherlock Holmes and Iris, and how I waited and waited for localization news…

…and waited and waited…

…and waited…

…until the glorious day when The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was leaked and the even more glorious day when it was officially announced.

When The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles came out in 2021, I finally had my chance to play the games I had been waiting for. My impressions of The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures were favorable, but for the first time I thought its long-delayed localization might have been a good thing, since I was kinder to the game’s loose ends and unanswered questions knowing I had the second game right there waiting for me.

And The Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve ended up being an amazing experience and possibly my favorite game of all time, so I’d say it was well worth the wait in the end.

Now here we are, just a few years later, celebrating the 10th anniversary. So far it looks like all they’re doing for the anniversary is releasing a variety of merchandise, but the merch is taking strange and unexpected forms, like kitchen appliances that talk to you in the characters’ voices.

They’ve also announced acrylic stands of every character, and I do mean every character. They’ve even gotten around spoilers by censoring certain characters’ names in the official list.

Which means yes, there are acrylic stands of Kazuma as a prosecutor and in western clothes, as well as one that includes Klint and Balmung.

The acrylic stands are tempting, but the sets are expensive.

Anyway, while there’s a good chance this is the big event for the anniversary, I still have my fingers crossed that they might announce a new game. They ended some of their social media posts by asking fans to continue supporting The Great Ace Attorney series, so maybe there’s some hope after all!

But whether we get a new game or not, I’m glad The Great Ace Attorney exists, and I’m glad I got to play it. What are your thoughts on The Great Ace Attorney’s 10th anniversary?

All right, so the Capcom Spotlight yesterday didn’t have any Ace Attorney news.

It was a long shot anyway, but I admit I felt hopeful when they deviated from the announced four games to discuss a few other titles as well.

Nevertheless, the closest we got to Ace Attorney news was them mentioning it being on sale.

On the other hand, we do have some new art to enjoy!

This year is The Great Ace Attorney’s 10th anniversary, and now that we’re getting closer to the anniversary itself (July 9), they released a beautiful piece of tenth anniversary art, as well as a store where you can buy art and other merchandise, like acrylic character standees.

I still have high hopes for The Great Ace Attorney’s anniversary year and believe we’ll get some sort of exciting announcement, whether it’s a game (please) or something else.

In the meantime, that art is beautiful, and I’m really tempted by some of the merch…

Do you think we’ll get a big announcement to celebrate The Great Ace Attorney’s 10th anniversary this year, or is this art and merch the most we’ll see?
