Nostalgia-AliceYou might remember Nostalgia: Two Worlds | One Soul, an upcoming PC and Wii U game inspired by Ace Attorney and Zero Escape.

We first looked at it last August, and I shared new Nostalgia screenshots in December.

Since then, I’ve contributed freelance work to Nostalgia, so it holds an even more special place in my heart.

Therefore, I’m excited to announce that the Nostalgia: Two Worlds | One Soul Kickstarter is now live.

Nostalgia is about a girl named Alice who was forced to participate in experiments meant to determine whether or not an alternate universe exists. Set 12 years later, the game will involve both the characters and their alternate universe counterparts.

Gameplay is split between choice-based visual novel sections, escape-the-room puzzles, and occasional battle sequences. There are multiple endings.

The Wii U version will have features exclusive to the Gamepad, such as object scanning. Some puzzles will also be different depending on which version you play.

A prototype demo is available, although I had trouble getting it to run.

If you like what you see and want to support Nostalgia: Two Worlds | One Soul, tell your friends about it or visit the Kickstarter page.

Great-Detective-PikachuAh, the great detectives. Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, Pikachu, Sam Spade–

Wait, Pikachu?

Yesterday, The Pokémon Company unveiled the latest Pokémon spin-off for the 3DS, Great Detective Pikachu. A young boy named Tim moves to Rhyme City, where he meets Pikachu… who apparently is a detective.

It’s described as a “cinematic adventure game,” so I’m not entirely sure how it will play, but it could be enjoyable. Will it be a traditional adventure game or something else? I can imagine it having an Attack of the Friday Monsters vibe, which would be cool.

Has The Pokémon Company lost its mind? Or will this be the next surprise success? We’ll know soon, because Great Detective Pikachu is due out on the eShop in Japan next Wednesday!

That seems very fast, but this game didn’t quite materialize from nothing. Back in 2013, players got a quick glimpse of an in-development Pikachu game… which was immediately blocked from the collective gaming conscience due to the sheer amount of nightmare fuel.

The current game looks much less terrifying.

Check out the official website for more details on Great Detective Pikachu.

Will this game be localized? Do we want it to be localized? These things remain to be seen.

If you have no interest in it at all, maybe you’ll be happier to know Hironobu Sakaguchi is working a on a new console game. Everyone else, share your thoughts on Great Detective Pikachu in the comments below!

AliceBack in August, we discussed Nostalgia: Two Worlds | One Soul, an upcoming cyberpunk game inspired by Ace Attorney and Zero Escape. Magna Studios contacted me with new information about the game… and new screenshots!

First, these new screenshots are all from the Nostalgia: Two Worlds | One Soul demo. The demo will feature 5 different endings and is planned for somewhere around January 15-20.

That will be a great chance to try Nostalgia and see how it plays, so I’m looking forward to it.

In addition to showing the main character, Alice, Magna Studios has also shown her little sister for the first time. She will play an important role in the story.

Another key part of Nostalgia will be language. According to the developer, knowing multiple languages might actually make certain puzzles easier for you. I’ll be curious to see how this works.

Here's one potential puzzle.

The remaining screenshots hint at more puzzle details and even some story elements. Have a look.

Nostalgia: Two Worlds | One Soul will be released for the Wii U and PC. Its demo should be available mid-January. What are your thoughts so far?
