Back in 2021, I still occasionally greeted Muv-Luv news by wondering where Schwarzesmarken was, but in the years since then I pretty much gave up on it.
But the wait is (almost) over, because it’s coming at last!
Yes, this is one of the announcements we skipped over due to spooky month.
During October’s Muv-Luv Presents 2026 live stream, the Steam release of Schwarzesmarken: Bloodstained Crest and Schwarzesmarken: The Martyrs was officially announced, to be released in Japanese, English, and Chinese.
No release window was given, but even just the announcement is exciting after all this time.
Schwarzesmarken is a spin-off set in the Muv-Luv universe that follows a squadron from East Germany. In case you weren’t keeping up on Muv-Luv news back then, our hopes for an English release were roused when it appeared on Steam Greenlight and got voted for approval. Steam Greenlight itself hasn’t been a thing since 2017, which gives you an idea of how long we’ve been waiting for Schwarzesmarken.
The last Muv-Luv announcement we got left me with mixed feelings because of the AI controversy, but since this is a translation of an existing visual novel spin-off, it shouldn’t run into any problems like that.
So I’m excited! We’re finally getting it! Now I just need to finish Total Eclipse…
