Operation Backlog Completion 2026

Yesterday there was a Wholesome Games live stream to line up with the Game Awards tomorrow, and while there weren’t a huge number of games that interested me, one in particular caught my attention.

When the trailer for CatchMaker started, I thought the graphics were cute and noticed it seemed to be a bug-catching game.

I almost stopped paying attention after that, except suddenly the bugs were on the screen with a salad between them, having a conversation.

Yes, CatchMaker combines bug-catching with matchmaking. After you catch the bugs, you pair them off based on their preferences and try to help them find romance.

I’m often suspicious of quirky romance games, but this combination of genres is so unexpected that I can’t help but be intrigued.

Judging by the Steam page, it looks like there’s some life sim gameplay besides just catching bugs, too. I’m really curious about how this one will turn out!

What are your thoughts on CatchMaker and the other games from the Wholesome Games stream?

  1. I had no idea what to expect here, but this looks cute! I like how the matchmaking seems to be like a puzzle game.

  2. That actually looks cute.
