Operation Backlog Completion 2026

We’ve got a round-up of announcements to talk about today, staring with The Snack World.

Localization of Level-5’s RPG The Snack World had been hinted at before, but now it seems all but confirmed. There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but the ESRB has rated Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold for the Switch.

This is most likely the localization of The Snack World: Trejarers Gold, the Switch port of the original 3DS game.

“Trejarers Gold” might sound odd, but personally I like that title better than Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl – Gold. Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing more from Snack World.

Now let’s move on to Resident Evil. Remember the new Resident Evil game that was being tested? After a few more details came out, fans began to believe it was a new entry in the Resident Evil Outbreak spin-off series… but unfortunately, it’s not.

No, Project Resistance has now been revealed as a team-based horror game for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

It doesn’t quite look as action-focused as Operation Raccoon City (or Umbrella Corps, which I actually forgot all about until I saw someone else mention it), but it doesn’t look like Outbreak, either.

More information about Project Resistance will be shown at TGS, but right now I’m not too interested in this one.

So let’s talk about something I am interested in, Kingdom Hearts 3’s upcoming Re:Mind DLC!

As announced, a new trailer for the DLC came out today.

Warning: The trailer includes big spoilers for Kingdom Hearts III. Don’t watch the trailer if you haven’t finished Kingdom Hearts III.

The trailer doesn’t really clarify much about the DLC, but it does support my favorite theory about what the events will cover/explain. I’m looking forward to the Re:Mind DLC quite a bit, and I hope we get a release date soon!

I’m excited for Re:Mind, tentatively interested in Snack World, and… really not interested at all in Project Resistance so far. How do you feel about these three games?

We might not know what’s next for the Resident Evil series just yet, but whatever it is, it’s in-development and ready for testing.

Members of the Resident Evil Ambassador Program in Japan have received emails asking them to test an in-development game on September 8 or 9.

In addition to being part of the program, testers must have played past Resident Evil games.

So it’s clear Capcom is working on something in the series, but what could it be? Resident Evil 8? Another remake? A new spin-off?

Personally, I’m leaning toward RE3make, but who knows? With any luck, testing in early September means it won’t be long before this game is officially announced.

What do you think the next Resident Evil game is?

We recently discussed the possibility of the Resident Evil 2 Remake being one of Capcom’s upcoming “major titles,” and now new rumors have surfaced about it.

According to Rely on Horror, they have a source who revealed details about the game.

Their source says the Resident Evil 2 remake will use an upgraded version of the RE Engine with revamped lighting and shadows, aim for 30fps/1080p on a regular PS4 and 60fps/4k on a PS4 Pro, and use photogrammetry for realistic graphics.

They’re taking care to make the characters look like the originals, although Claire will have a new outfit.

(Normally it would be bizarre for rumors to include reassurance that the characters will look like themselves, but there was a lot of confusion due to Chris in the RE7 DLC looking too different.)

The source also says the Resident Evil 2 Remake won’t use fixed camera angles or first-person, but instead an over-the-shoulder camera that has been “stylized” in some way. Leon and Claire will both have campaigns, like in the original, and there will also be new content and areas.

Most importantly, they said it will retain the classic Resident Evil design and horror focus.

These are just rumors, but let’s discuss them anyway. At first, I was disappointed to learn about the OTS camera. I’ve been hoping for something similar to REmake, after all. On the other hand, the camera doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be an action-fest. Resident Evil: Revelations, for example, had glimmers of potential, and could have been traditional survival horror if they’d been willing to go all the way.

So if the Resident Evil 2 remake really does have a traditional Resident Evil design (puzzles and recursive unlocking, please), I’ll be okay with an over-the-shoulder camera. Meanwhile, the additional content sounds right in line with what REmake did.

Here’s hoping we finally get to see the game soon…

What do you think of the latest RE2make rumors? How do you feel about a potential camera change? Will we see it at E3? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
