One of the games I’ve mentioned in the past that I’m working on is Destiny Chronicles, an RPG styled like action JRPGs.

Destiny Chronicles is currently planned for the PC, PS4, and Switch.

Last November, I let you know that even though Destiny Chronicles didn’t meet its Kickstarter goal, we would continue to work on it for an eventual relaunch.

Progress has been going well. We’re planning to relaunch the Kickstarter campaign in about 1-2 months, with a playable build so you can see how it feels.

In the meantime, there is a new gameplay video available showing off combat and Celeste’s special abilities. Take a look.

Destiny Chronicles has already come a long way since our initial Kickstarter, so I’m feeling optimistic about the relaunch. Of course, I’m mainly involved on the writing side of things, but feel free to ask me any questions you have about the game.

What do you think of Destiny Chronicles so far?

When I discussed my romance stories for Valentine’s Day, I mentioned my work on the script for another visual novel in the style of My Strange Girlfriend.

Well, it’s available now!

My Devil Girlfriend: Romance You Choose is out now on the Google Play Store for free with in-app purchases (both of these will eventually come to iOS).

This one follows a young man who gets mixed up in a plot involving three devils who enter his school disguised as normal students. Three romance routes are available, and these visual novels use the model where you can play for free but need to unlock certain premium choices with an in-game currency.

My Devil Girlfriend leans more toward fantasy than the previous one did, since the devils and their powers are so important to the story.

Writing these has actually become a pillar of my freelance work, so expect more of these to fill out my Games page in the future.

If you’re familiar with my writing, you might associate me with horror, but I do have work in the romance genre, too!

For Valentine’s Day, I’ve decided to give a general overview of my romance work, including a game we haven’t discussed before.

First, there’s the lone romance among my published stories. “A Special Present,” found in the Love Under the Mistletoe anthology, is a sweet romance about two of Santa’s elves who fall in love. However, I will point out that it’s one of my earliest published stories, so the writing may not be as polished as usual.

It might be my sole romance story for now, but I’ve been writing more romance lately, so that may change. (*anxiously watches the #KissPitch progress*)

Let’s move on to visual novels.

Ascendant Hearts came out last month, and it’s seen positive reviews so far. It’s a romantic comedy set in a fantasy world that parodies JRPG tropes, and there are three romance choices (as well as a non-romance ending).

Ascendant Hearts isn’t quite as “safe” as my elf story, although it’s still pretty tame unless you get the NSFW patch from the website. Even then, there are no H-scenes and the story remains the same.

Moving on, I wrote the script for a second galge/bishojo visual novel just released last week! My Strange Girlfriend lets you romance three girls afflicted by a strange curse that gives them animal characteristics. It’s a cute story, with some humorous moments as well as serious scenes.

I’m currently working on another visual novel with a similar style.

So there you have it: my current romance offerings for Valentine’s Day. Horror and romance by the same writer? It’s more likely than you think.
