Operation Backlog Completion 2026

As reported by Gematsu, Capcom has announced that they will release “multiple major new titles” by March 31, 2021.

No indication has been given of what these titles include, although if the Resident Evil 4 remake rumors are true, that has to be one of them, and probably Resident Evil 8 as well. A huge series like Monster Hunter sounds like a good candidate, too.

And of course, I can’t help but hope for Ace Attorney 7.

You might argue that Capcom doesn’t consider Ace Attorney to be a “major” series, but don’t forget that when they promised Ace Attorney was coming to the Switch, they counted it among their popular franchises.

(Then again, all we got out of that was the Ace Attorney Trilogy port…)

I’m hopeful that with new Capcom games planned for the coming year, we’ll finally get an announced of Ace Attorney 7. Maybe they’ll port and localize Ace Attorney Investigations 2 while they’re at it!

I’d hope for Breath of Fire news, but even I’m not that optimistic.

What do you think Capcom’s upcoming major titles are, and when do you think we’ll finally get more Ace Attorney news?

If you’ve been interested in the Ace Attorney series but didn’t have a platform to play it on, you’re in luck!

The Phoenix Wright Trilogy, which includes the first three games in the series, is now available on pretty much everything (except Vita).

That’s right, it was just released for the Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and Steam.

This means a new audience can now enjoy the Ace Attorney series for the first time!

Will it end with the first trilogy? Hopefully not. The old rumors about the Ace Attorney Switch games seem completely unreliable when you consider the time frame, but a second collection containing Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice would be a great way for all of these new fans to catch up on the series in time for the next game.

Speaking of which, where is the next game? We’ve been waiting for Ace Attorney 7 news for a while now. Soon we’ll be coming up on three years since the release of Spirit of Justice.

Meanwhile, I’m still hoping that the theoretical future compilations include an Investigations Duology that will finally give an official localization to Gyakuten Kenji 2, and I still hope we’ll see localization of the Dai Gyakuten Saiban games eventually… maybe in 2023 when the final Sherlock Holmes stories enter the public domain.

Are you planning to pick up the Phoenix Wright Trilogy on one of the new platforms? Do you think another Ace Attorney collection will follow? When will Ace Attorney 7 be announced? Share your thoughts in the comments!

It’s been quite a while since Capcom confirmed that Ace Attorney would be on the Switch in fiscal year 2018, and we still haven’t heard any more details.

Rumors claimed the Phoenix Wright Trilogy, a second collection containing Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice, and Ace Attorney 7 would all be announced for the Switch.

Well, we might have an answer in just a few weeks!

The Tokyo Game Show runs from September 20-23, and Capcom’s schedule includes an Ace Attorney panel.

According to the official description, it will cover the latest information about the series and be “unmissable” for fans. That implies we’ll get some sort of major announcement out of it. Motohide Eshiro and Shinsuke Kodama will also be there.

Now, Motohide Eshiro has been the Ace Attorney producer for the past few entries, but Shinsuke Kodama seems to have only worked on Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright and the Dai Gyakuten Saiban games. (My heart hopes this means localization news, but TGS would be an unusual place for that.)

I think this will probably be the announcement of the next mainline Ace Attorney game. Could there be more, like the rumored collections? Maybe, since it sounds like a big event.

What do you think will be announced at Capcom’s TGS 2018 Ace Attorney panel?
