Operation Backlog Completion 2024

It’s no delusion, our hopes have come true, the Chaos;Head Noah / Chaos;Child Double Pack released for the Switch is being localized!

After it was teased a few weeks ago, Spike Chunsoft officially announced it yesterday.

The double pack will be released on October 7, with a steelbook launch edition also available to order.

Not only will this be the first time Chaos;Head receives an official English translation, Chaos;Head Noah is the expanded re-release that added significantly more content and is said to be improved in every way. My understanding is that this version is based on the PlayStation release of Noah, which censored some of the more gruesome sections, but it should still be an excellent visual novel.

(The launch edition also includes lingerie costume DLC for the girls in Chaos;Head Noah, except for Seira, whose costume is not included in the western release.)

I played Chaos;Head with the fan translation last October and loved it, so I’m absolutely picking up this new release.

Now, Chaos;Child came out in English a few years ago (despite the questionable decision of translating only the sequel of an untranslated game) and I actually started my Vita copy last year after I finished Chaos;Head, so now I’ll need to decide if I want to finish that or wait for the double pack since I’m still near the beginning. As far as I know, it’s the exact same version, but since the original Chaos;Child translation apparently has some parts that just… aren’t translated… maybe we can hope they’ll fix that for the Switch version?

Either way, I’ll pick up the double back for Noah, at least.

I don’t know what’s up with this recent trend of games people said would never be localized suddenly getting localization announcements, but I’m delighted by it and I hope Yakuza Kenzan and Ishin are next. (Seriously. The Great Ace Attorney, the Crossbell games, and now Chaos;Head? If those are possible, Kenzan and Ishin definitely are.)

Are you planning to pick up the Chaos;Head Noah / Chaos;Child Double Pack? And more importantly, whose eyes are those eyes?

When I played and reviewed the visual novel Chaos;Head this October, I mentioned how unfortunate it is that there is no completed fan translation for the updated re-release, Chaos;Head Noah.

Well, maybe we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of an official translation just yet.

In an interview with Dengeki, translated here by Gematsu, Makoto Asada from MAGES. spoke about three things.

Anonymous;Code has been delayed to 2022, Mystereet is being ported while its sequel is put on hold indefinitely, and Chaos;Head Noah will be bundled together with Chaos;Child in a new release set for February 2022.

That last one definitely caught my attention.

Since Chaos;Head Noah isn’t available on modern systems, they decided a package containing it and its sequel would be the best way to make it available to more players.

Of course, this is just for Japan. There’s no reason to believe this means they’ll finally translate Chaos;Head. However, if you had asked me a week ago, I would have said chances of Chaos;Head Noah being localized were next to nothing, because they wouldn’t devote resources to translating a game available on nothing more modern than a Vita, even though the creator said in 2018 it was possible.

But now, with a new release coming for modern platforms? This is the best chance we have of getting Chaos;Head Noah in English. Do you think it will happen?

The visual novel Chaos;Child is being localized for the PS4 and Vita, and we finally have an official release date. It will be out on October 13 in Europe and October 24 in North America.

Chaos;Child is part of the Science Adventure series, which also includes Steins;Gate, although you don’t need knowledge of one to play the other.

(The Science Adventure series includes Steins;Gate and Steins;Gate 0, Chaos;Head and Chaos;Child, and Robotics;Notes and Robotics;Notes DaSH.)

It is also the sequel to the still-unlocalized Chaos;Head, but fans have said you don’t need to be familiar with Chaos;Head to play/read Chaos;Child.

Chaos;Child is about a group of high school students who begin to investigate supernatural murders.

I loved Steins;Gate, so I’m excited for this.

Are you interested in getting Chaos;Child?
