Hatoful-Boyfriend-plushiesWhile I pace back and forth waiting for Holiday Star to arrive on Steam (which should happen sometime this fall), there’s a new Hatoful Boyfriend project to check out: the Hatoful Boyfriend Official Plush Project.

The creator of Hatoful Boyfriend has partnered with ESC-TOY LTD. to make plushies of Shuu, Ryouta, and Okosan, as well as limited quantity Souma Isa and Maid Ryouta plushies. (There’s also a limited number of large Shuu plushies.)

It started yesterday and met its funding goal almost immediately (Souma and Maid Ryouta are already sold out, I’m afraid). You better believe I backed the moment I saw I could get a Shuu plushie. He’s one of my favorite mad scientists, after all. The Kickstarter then hit its first stretch goal, which means they’ll also make a Nageki plushie as an add-on.

At the time I’m writing this, it’s already crossed its second stretch goal.
I’m not much of a toy collector, but I love this. I only hope they don’t underestimate the demand for Hatoful Boyfriend plushies.

If you’re wondering why in the world I’m so excited about these birds, check out my Hatoful Boyfriend review. Tiers $20 and up include a Hatoful Boyfriend Steam code, too.

And if you’re already a fan, let me know in the comments which character you most want to see a plushie of. *crosses fingers for the crimson angel of Judecca*

Knowing me, you probably expected me to spend today talking about the Resident Evil 2 remake announcement. But I’m going to talk about another game instead.

Black-Holmes

See, when I checked Twitter this morning, I saw an announcement from Moa Hato about her upcoming crime procedural visual novel, Black Holmes. With how much I enjoyed Hatoful Boyfriend, this takes precedence.

Black Holmes was actually announced back in 2013, with the release of a promotional pamphlet and a few details about the game. As a mystery/crime story, it was inspired by Sherlock Holmes and The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Circumstances delayed the project, and its website and Twitter account sat dormant ever since… until today!

Black-Holmes-NoahVery few details are available about Black Holmes. It’s set in 1889 London and stars a detective named Noah Holmes. His character page shows four different pictures of him. My personal favorite is the one with the hat. I also like his different-colored eyes.

The other characters haven’t been revealed yet, although the character from the introduction page is shown in a few pieces of artwork, as well as the original promotional pamphlet, which suggests he will have a major role.

Two songs from the game are also available to listen to on the site.

According to the official Tumblr page, English pages will be added to the Black Holmes site soon.

I can’t wait to learn more about this game! It sounds as though it will have a more serious tone than Hatoful Boyfriend, although we all know stories involving mysteries and crimes can be lighthearted.

Let me know your hopes for and theories about Black Holmes in the comments below, and I’ll keep you updated as more information comes out.

We can talk about Resident Evil another time.

Following our discussion of mad scientists in video games, it’s time to shed light on somebirdie I referenced: Tohri Nishikikouji.

Hatoful-Boyfriend-Tohri-PlayStation

Tohri is a character from Hatoful Boyfriend’s sequel, Holiday Star, which is due out on Steam later this year. However, he’s also available in the PS4 and PS Vita releases of Hatoful Boyfriend.

I was pretty excited when I heard the news, and curious if the new content would come to Steam. Not that I object to buying another version of such a fantastic game, but I don’t have a PS4 or PS Vita yet.

Yesterday, Siliconera announced that PC players would get the Tohri route for free. However, their article left some doubt as to whether it would be released as an update for the Steam version or not.

So I went straight to the source and asked Moa Hato, the creator of Hatoful Boyfriend. She clarified that the Tohri route will not come to Steam, but will be available for free on the PC for everyone.

She hopes the new Tohri content will be available this fall. I would have liked an update or DLC for the Steam release, but a separate free release is great!

For those of you who got Hatoful Boyfriend on your PS4 or Vita, how is the Tohri storyline? And for those of you who haven’t played this game yet… what are you waiting for?
