Indie World Showcase Announced for Tomorrow, March 3

I’ve been waiting for the next general Nintendo Direct, but Nintendo keeps holding other showcases instead, this time a new Indie World Showcase.

The Indie World Showcase will be held tomorrow, March 3, at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET and last for 15 minutes.

Being an indie showcase, this is one of those rare game events where I’m not holding my breath for Ace Attorney news.

In fact… I’m not sure what to hope for from this one. There aren’t any particular indie games I’ve been looking forward to news on, so I’ll just be hoping for some nice surprises.

(The one thing that comes to mind is Deltarune, but it’s probably way too soon for the next part of that, not that I’m caught up anyway.)

Meanwhile, Pokémon Pokopia has been getting such great views that I’m feeling a little bit tempted… except I don’t have a Switch 2 yet, and I’m not that tempted. Whenever a game comes out that finally compels me to get a Switch 2 (the next Monolith Soft game, maybe?), I’ll probably end up getting Pokopia.

Getting back to the Indie World Showcase, are there any games you’re hoping to see? Any specific indie announcements you’ve been waiting for?

Pokémon Winds and Waves Officially Revealed!

The Pokémon Presents was today, although there weren’t any huge surprises.

Be sure to watch the full video if you want to see the whole thing, but if not, here’s my summary.

They started with a Pokémon music player that’s designed like a Game Boy and you put mini cartridges into it to play songs. Really, it’s very cute. It’s not the sort of thing I’d get myself, but I appreciate it as a neat idea.

Next up was the Pokémon World Championships and the new PokémonXP event, and then the usual focus on all their various Pokémon mobile games.

The first big game announcement after that was Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness coming to Nintendo Switch Online in March. I’m surprised they didn’t do Colosseum, which came first. Jumping straight to Gale of Darkness feels strange. (It’s too bad it can’t be bought outright; I’d probably get it then.)

They also showed the Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Switch ports and Pokémon Home, and then shared some news on Pokémon Champions and an update to the Pokémon Legends: Z-A DLC.

Next, Pokémon Pokopia got a new trailer, and even though it was featured in the Nintendo Treehouse stream the other day, they announced some new things here too. It looks like a cute game, just not one I’m ready to buy a Switch 2 for (and not for $70).

Finally, it was time for the official reveal of the next Pokémon generation, officially titled Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves. They will be out for the Switch 2 in 2027.

The 2027 date surprised me. I hope this means they’re taking their time to avoid the issues Scarlet and Violet had. Anyway, I’ll be waiting to hear gameplay details (especially since it sounds like it’s open world again), but the starters are cute and the game looks beautiful.

I haven’t played the past two Pokémon gens, although I do want to try them eventually.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Collector’s Edition Announced, But…

I might have only played the Trails in the Sky games so far, but I’m excited to get deeper into the Trails series, and I keep buying the special editions.

(Here’s hoping I catch up before the series ends so I’ll eventually buy a limited edition that won’t sit for ages.)

In fact, I’m still waiting for my Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Collector’s Edition contents to arrive from Limited Run Games… and now a Collector’s Edition for the upcoming Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter has been announced.

Unlike the previous one, this one is being sold through Panax Store instead of Limited Run Games… and it costs $274.99?? ($279.99 for the Switch 2 version.)

This “Golden Wings Edition” includes the game, a model diorama of the Glorious and Arseille, a steelbook case, an artbook, a mini soundtrack CD, a Collector’s Box, and a digital season pass for cosmetic DLC.

That’s a good Collector’s Edition, but I don’t think it’s worth $275 for me, personally. I assume the diorama is what’s pushing the price up so much, and while it’s nice, I don’t want it that badly. I’m also not familiar with Panax Store, which makes me a little less likely to buy it, too. (Although really, at $275, I’d probably pass even if it was at a store I buy from all the time.)

I’d like to get a special edition of some kind, so I hope they’ll have other options. Maybe there will at least be a separate steelbook option, or a smaller limited edition without the diorama.
